Barcelona tops Panathinaikos in high-scoring game

FC Barcelona secured its first victory of the 2025–26 EuroLeague season, defeating Panathinaikos 103–96 at Telekom Center Athens. The visitors led for most of the game and resisted several late comeback attempts to close out a strong road performance.

Will Clyburn paced Barcelona with 23 points, while Toko Shengelia added 17 and Nico Laprovittola contributed 15. Willy Hernangomez and Kevin Punter each scored 13, providing balanced scoring across the roster.

Juancho Hernangomez led Panathinaikos with 27 points, and Kostas Sloukas recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 assists. Konstantinos Mitoglou added 11 points, while Kendrick Nunn and Jerian Grant each scored 10.

Barcelona opened the game with an 0–8 run, sparked by early triples from Clyburn and Shengelia. Panathinaikos responded with a 10–0 surge, gaining a 13–11 lead, but the visitors answered with a 2–10 run, closing the first quarter ahead 17–26.

In the second quarter, Panathinaikos briefly regained the lead at 35–33 following Juancho’s triple and Grant’s three-point play. Barcelona countered with an 0–8 run, led by Clyburn and Punter, and took a 48–45 advantage into halftime.

Barcelona extended its lead in the third quarter, with Clyburn and Shengelia hitting key shots to maintain an 11-point cushion. Panathinaikos cut the deficit to 69–75 heading into the fourth quarter, keeping the game competitive.

Early in the final period, Punter and Clyburn hit consecutive triples to push Barcelona ahead 69–84. Panathinaikos responded with a 9–1 run, narrowing the gap to 80–88, but Laprovittola and Jan Vesely helped the visitors pull away, securing the 103–96 win.

Barcelona shot 52.9% on two-pointers and 47.1% from three-point range, while limiting Panathinaikos to 45.1% from the field and 38.1% from deep. The visitors also recorded 23 assists to 16 for the hosts, demonstrating strong ball movement.
