Players will be able to retake a penalty if they accidentally ‘double touch’ the ball, from the start of next month.

The change has been made following controversy in a Champions League shoot-out this season.

Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvaraz converted his penalty against Real Madrid, but it was ruled out after he slipped, with his standing leg touching the ball first.
