The Philadelphia 76ers have extended a qualifying offer to guard Quentin Grimes, keeping him a restricted free agent this offseason.

NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported that the offer is worth $8.7 million, allowing Philadelphia to match any contract Grimes signs with another team.

The 25-year-old was acquired by the Sixers at the February trade deadline in a deal that sent Caleb Martin to the Dallas Mavericks. Since joining the 76ers, Grimes has shown flashes of offensive efficiency while continuing to contribute as a perimeter defender.

Grimes played 28 games for Philadelphia in the 2024–25 season, averaging 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in 33.7 minutes per contest. He shot 46.9 percent from the field and 37.3 percent from beyond the arc.

He is entering the final year of his four-year, $11.1 million rookie contract.

Drafted 25th overall by the Clippers in 2021 and then traded to New York, Grimes spent his first two and a half seasons with the Knicks. His most productive year with the franchise came in 2022–23, when he started 66 games and posted 11.3 points per game while shooting 38.6 percent from deep.

The 76ers, who finished 13th in the Eastern Conference at 24–58, are entering a pivotal offseason. After drafting Baylor guard V.J. Edgecombe with the No. 3 overall pick, the team appears committed to reshaping its young core.

By extending the qualifying offer, Philadelphia signals its interest in retaining Grimes, either on the one-year deal or through a longer-term agreement.
