FC Nantes boss, Antoine Kombouaré, says the former French league champions are eager to have the real Moses Simon back in action against Lyon in a Ligue 1 match at the Stade de Gerland on Friday night.

Simon has truly gone off the boil in the past weeks with the Nigerian winger having failed to shine for Nantes. He has five goals and three assists in 23 Ligue 1 games this term.

He has, however, not scored in his last 10 league ties since netting in a 2-2 draw with Ajaccio on November 13 of last year. Facing the media, Kombouaré spoke about Simon before the clash against Lyon.

“He’s not the only one having difficulties. I think he reflects the image of the team. When you’re 14th in Ligue 1, there are a lot of players below their level.

“But if we compare with last year, we have outperformed. All of them, yes. This year, there was Europe, the repetition of the posters but yes, he knows that he is experiencing difficulties, that “He has to work.

“The explanations? We discuss, we exchange. For him, nothing has changed. He must do what it takes to become the Moses Simon we know.

“Afterwards, in terms of his marking, he often has two defenders on his back, sometimes three. Opponents are also more vigilant.

“We know he has to work, vary his races, his dribbling. But I trust him. We need him for this end of the season, for maintenance and the Coupe de France.”
