Brett Siegel reports that Nets big man Nic Claxton is viewed leaguewide as a legitimate trade candidate, and his name has circulated in conversations among NBA sources as a potential fit for the Warriors.
Siegel writes that Claxton has specifically come up as a “possible Warriors target,” suggesting that Golden State is at least monitoring the situation as it looks for defensive and frontcourt help.
Despite that connection, one thing appears clear regarding what Brooklyn is not interested in: Siegel points out that the Nets showed no willingness to pursue Jonathan Kuminga when they had the cap space to do so while he was a restricted free agent this past summer.
Because of that, it “doesn’t appear” that Kuminga would be someone Brooklyn targets in any Claxton-related negotiations, indicating that the Nets have a different profile in mind if they choose to move their starting center.
Siegel also reminds readers that Claxton has drawn attention from other teams for some time.
The Lakers, in particular, have been linked to him dating back to last season, and he notes that Los Angeles has continued to be mentioned as a possible landing spot should the Nets decide to entertain offers.
