Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre has signed for Saudi Arabia Women’s Premier League club Al-Ittihad Ladies.

Plumptre joined Al-Ittihad following the expiration of her contract at Leicester City last season.

The 25-year-old spent three seasons at Leicester, from 2020 to 2023.

”Welcome to Al-Ittihad Ashleigh Plumptre ????????,” the Saudi Arabia club, who did not disclose the duration of the contract, wrote on their X handle (formerly Twitter)

Commenting on her move to Al-Ittihad, Plumptre said she is excited to begin a new chapter in her football career.

“Grateful to have signed for Al-Ittihad ????,” she wrote on her X account.

“Excited to start this journey alongside some incredible human beings.

“My journey of stepping into more of myself continues…

“It’s more than football ????.”

Al-Ittihad placed fifth in the first-ever Saudi Arabia Women’s Premier League which was took place last season.

Plumptre, was a member of the Super Falcons squad at the 2023 FIFA women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

She featured in all the four games the Falcons played as they reached the round of 16 losing on penalty shootout to England.
