Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade continues to wait for a final decision from Zeljko Obradovic, as the club’s leadership maintains its effort to keep the most decorated coach in European basketball on the bench.
Mozzart Sport reported on Friday that officials still believe Obradovic may reconsider his resignation, which he submitted after the loss to Panathinaikos earlier this week.
The scene at Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla Airport underscored the emotional weight of the situation, with thousands of supporters greeting the team in an attempt to persuade the coach to remain.
One fan captured the mood by calling Obradovic “our patriarch,” a description reflecting his stature among Partizan followers.
Despite the public support, Obradovic has not withdrawn his resignation, nor has he committed to leaving, leaving the situation unresolved heading into the weekend.
The Executive Board met in an urgent session on November 27 and unanimously decided not to accept his resignation.
In its official statement, Partizan emphasized its full backing of the club legend, noting that it wishes for him to continue leading the first team.
The board, following the proposal of club president Ostoja Mijailovic, urged Obradovic to reconsider and granted him complete authority to reshape the roster if he chooses.
According to Mozzart Sport, team officials are prepared to approve a full reconstruction of the squad should Obradovic decide that changes are necessary for improved results.
The coach has not yet provided a definitive answer, creating uncertainty around Saturday’s scheduled training session.
At the moment, it remains unclear who will lead that practice, as no interim appointment has been announced.
A new session of the club’s expanded Board of Directors is scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m., where the situation is expected to clarify.
The hope within Partizan’s leadership is that the combined support of the club, the board, and the fanbase will influence Obradovic to stay.
