Paolo Banchero will miss Friday’s matchup against the Brooklyn Nets after being diagnosed with a left groin strain.
The Orlando Magic announced that Banchero is considered day-to-day and will be evaluated each day as the team monitors how quickly the injury responds.
Banchero underwent an MRI on Thursday, one day after suffering the injury during Orlando’s win over the New York Knicks.
The strain was significant enough to keep him out of the lineup, but the team has not indicated that a long absence is expected.
Before the setback, Banchero was off to a strong start this season, averaging 21.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 4.1 assists.
Last year, he appeared in only 46 games due to an oblique injury, so Orlando is expected to be cautious with the 23-year-old forward.
