The draws for the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier League (NPL) season have been scheduled to take place on Thursday, August 17.
NPFL News on Monday tweeted that the new NPL season will kick off in 12 days – Saturday, August 26.
“12 days till the #NPFL returns. Draws for fixtures to take place August 17th. Transfer window closes September 1st,” NPFL News wrote.
Meanwhile, ahead of the 2023/24 season, Gbenga Elegbeleye was appointed as the NPL chairman by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) in Abuja on July 20.
Elegbeleye who is a former Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Youth and Sports, headed the Interim Management Committee (IMC) that executed the last NPL season and the Super 6, drawing high praise from the NFF and stakeholders in general.
Enyimba International FC are the defending champions of the Nigeria Premier League after winning the 2022/2023 edition of the competition.
The Aba Elephants emerged champions on June 11 after winning the Super-Six playoffs following a 1-1 draw against defending Rivers United FC at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos.
Enyimba in the process won their ninth league title after finishing top of the Super-Six playoffs with nine points, same as Remo Stars but with a superior goal difference.
