Philadelphia 76ers head coach Nick Nurse provided a positive update on Joel Embiid’s health following Tuesday’s game, confirming that there are no structural issues with the star center’s right knee, according to Tim Bontemps of ESPN.
Embiid, who has dealt primarily with left knee problems over the past few seasons, sat out Tuesday’s matchup against the Boston Celtics due to soreness in his right knee.
The 76ers opted to conduct additional testing earlier in the day to determine the extent of the issue, but the results came back encouraging.
As Bontemps reported, the team doesn’t view the injury as serious, and Embiid’s status is officially listed as day-to-day.
Before the game, Nurse emphasized that the decision to rest Embiid was precautionary and that there’s no concern about a prolonged absence.
“No expectation at all,” Nurse said. “He just reported a little soreness in his right knee. He’s had some imaging on that this afternoon, and the doctors are here tonight to go over that with him.”
