NEWCASTLE fans have been left convinced that James Maddison wants a transfer to the club.
There was plenty of rumours linking the Leicester star with a move to the Magpies over the summer but he stayed with the Foxes.
The 26-year-old has revealed that he and the Newcastle players also involved in the England squad, Callum Wilson, Kieran Trippier and Nick Pope, often joke about him joining the club.
Maddison said: “Me, Cal, Tripps and Popey have been having a bit of banter.
“It’s three on one to be fair, with the Newcastle boys.
“We’ve been having a bit of banter about the Boxing Day game and the bit of speculation last summer.”
Newcastle face Maddison’s Leicester in the first Premier League game back after the World Cup break.
But supporters of Eddie Howe’s side believe that Maddison is hinting that he would be open to a switch to the Champions League chasing team.
One fan said: “Translation ‘come and get me.'”
Another commented: “Defo wants to join the Mags.”

More of the Newcastle faithful agreed: “Look at the body language. He is very, very awkward talking about that. Does this tell us something?”
Another fan even photoshopped Pope’s face on a video of a cartoon tapping the seat next to him with the caption “join us”.
Reports suggested in the summer that Newcastle had two bids rejected for him of £40million and £45milllion.
Maddison has been in outstanding form this season scoring seven goals and assisting a further four in 14 matches this season.
