Lisandro Martinez returned to the Manchester United XI in a much-changed side for the Carabao Cup quarter-final with League One Charlton. Martinez has made two substitute appearances since winning the World Cup with Argentina but was named in defence alongside Harry Maguire.
Tom Heaton started in goal while there was a debut for 17-year-old midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.
Charlton, who are 12th in League One, were able to call on goalkeeper Ashley Maynard-Brewer who was absent at the weekend due to concussion protocols.
