The Milwaukee Bucks are adding Patrick St. Andrews to their coaching staff, bringing in a long-time NBA assistant with prior championship experience in the organization. The move continues a rapid reshaping of the franchise’s bench under new head coach Taylor Jenkins.
NBA insider Michael Scotto reported on Saturday, May 23, that St. Andrews has agreed to join Milwaukee as an assistant coach on the front of the bench. Scotto also noted the reunion between St. Andrews and Jenkins, who previously worked together with the Memphis Grizzlies.
St. Andrews most recently served as an assistant coach with the Portland Trail Blazers during the 2025–26 season. Before that, he spent two seasons in Memphis under Jenkins, continuing a professional relationship that has now carried into Milwaukee.
The Bucks formally turned the page earlier this offseason when they hired Jenkins as head coach on April 30. The organization moved quickly after a 32–50 campaign that ended a nine-year playoff streak and raised long-term questions about roster direction and stability.
Jenkins arrives after a six-season tenure with the Memphis Grizzlies, where he posted a 250–214 record and led three playoff appearances. His hiring was framed by Milwaukee leadership as a reset built around structure, defensive identity, and internal development.
St. Andrews brings deep familiarity with both Jenkins and the Bucks organization. He previously spent five seasons on Milwaukee’s staff from 2018 to 2023, including the 2021 championship run under Mike Budenholzer.
His coaching background began with the Atlanta Hawks, where he worked as an assistant video coordinator from 2014 to 2017 before becoming an assistant coach in 2017–18. He also served in international competition as an assistant with the Dominican Republic national team during the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship.
After leaving Milwaukee in 2023, St. Andrews joined the Memphis staff and later moved to Portland in 2025. His role with the Trail Blazers included responsibilities tied to rotations and minute management during an injury-heavy season.
