Manchester United’s move for French World Cup winner Benjamin Pavard is stalling, according to reports.
United are keen to bolster their defensive optioons by signing the 27-year-old from Bayern Munich but their inability to sell Harry Maguire may scupper the move.
Fabrizio Romano reported on Thursday that Pavard is also attracting interest from Inter Milan, and that Arsenal could make a move for the versatile defender following a serious knee injury for new signing Jurien Timber.
Romano stated that Pavard is ‘prepared to leave Bayern now’, and it has been suggested that he is pushing to join United as he enters the final year of his contract at the Allianz Arena.
Personal terms are not expected to be a problem, but United saw a transfer bid rejected by Bayern last weekend.

Pavard started for Bayern in their 3-0 defeat to RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup on Saturday, signalling Thomas Tuchel’s intent to keep him in Bavaria this season.
The Frechman may be forced to remain in Germany if United cannot find a suitor for former captain Maguire.
A £30million move to West Ham was agreed earlier this week, only for the England defender to stall over the transfer as he sought a pay-off of around £7million to leave Old Trafford.
David Moyes’ side grew tired of waiting for Maguire to commit to them and pulled out of the deal.
Erik ten Hag is reportedly happy to let the 30-year-old fight for a place in his squad, but it could well come at the expense of being able to sign Pavard.
Fellow defender Eric Bailly could be on the move though, with the Ivorian international linked with Besiktas and Al Nassr.
