Spanish-born Nigerian striker Samuel Omorodion has joined La Liga giants Atletico Madrid from newly promoted Granada.
In a statement from Monday, Atletico said Omorodion has signed a five-year contract that will run until 2028.
Omorodion was born in Melilla, Spain, to Nigerian parents.
He is eligible to play for either Nigeria or Spain, and he currently plays for the U-19 team of the latter.
He joined Granada CF’s youth team in 2021 from AD Nervión.
On March 6, 2022, he made his senior debut with the reserves, coming on as a second-half substitute in a 2–1 Segunda División RFEF home loss to CD Marchamalo.
He scored his first goal on September 25, netting the B’s equaliser in a 1-1 draw at CD El Ejido.
Last season, he scored 18 goals in the Segunda División RFEF.
He made his first team – and La Liga – debut on August 14, 2023, starting and scoring the equaliser in a 3–1 away loss against Atlético Madrid.
