ARSENAL wonderkid Miguel Azeez is in talks for a loan move to Wigan to link up with Gunners legend Kolo Toure.

Former defender Toure replaced Leam Richardson as boss at the Championship club in November.

And amid a relegation battle to avoid going straight back to League 1, Toure is now looking for January recruitments.

The Athletic report that Azeez is in talks to head to the DW Stadium.

The midfielder had been on loan at second-tier Spanish side UD Ibiza earlier this season but was recalled by Arsenal after only making 10 appearances.

The 20-year-old experienced a similar situation last week when his loan spell at Portsmouth was cut short on that occasion as well.

Former Arsenal U23 coach Kevin Betsy labelled the move to Pompey as “not fantastic” in terms of game time but a “really good learning” experience.

Azeez told the Athletic at the end of last season that he was keen to not return to under-23 football.

He said: “I want to play the whole season in senior football. Wherever that is, that’s the main goal.”

Azeez, who came through Arsenal’s academy, has only made one senior appearance for the club so far when he subbed on in a Europa League win over Dundalk in 2020.

He could join a Wigan side battling for their lives under Toure in his first job in management.

Since arriving, the 41-year-old has lost four of his five league games in charge.

But the Latics scrapped to an away draw at in-form Luton in the FA Cup on Saturday.

A huge relegation 3-pointer at Cardiff awaits on Saturday.

Toure spent seven years at Arsenal in the noughties and was part of the Invincibles squad who went an entire season unbeaten in 2003-04.
