Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet has confirmed the departure of head coach Sasa Obradovic following a turbulent end to the 2025–26 season, with the club announcing an immediate change ahead of the domestic championship run-in.
The decision was made official on Sunday, May 24, as the Belgrade club issued a statement confirming that Obradovic is no longer in charge of the senior team. The move comes shortly after the team’s elimination by Partizan in the Adriatic League semifinals.
That defeat intensified pressure around the club after a season that mixed competitive EuroLeague results with inconsistency in key domestic and regional fixtures. Crvena Zvezda finished 10th in the EuroLeague regular season with a 21–17 record, narrowly missing the top-eight playoff line in a tightly contested mid-table.
The statistical profile reflected a team capable of competing with elite opposition but lacking consistency in close games. Crvena Zvezda ended the regular season with a +42 point differential, placing them in the same tier as several postseason qualifiers but just outside the decisive cutoff.
The club’s EuroLeague campaign included strong home performances at 13–6, but away form at 8–11 limited upward movement in the standings.
Crvena Zvezda will now be led by Milan Tomic on an interim basis for the final stretch of the domestic championship. The club confirmed his return in the same statement, highlighting his experience within the organization as a stabilizing factor during the transition.
