With several players sidelined due to injuries, the Detroit Pistons wing Javonte Green stepped into the starting lineup for the first time this season – and he made the most of the opportunity.

The veteran player recorded his first double-double of the year and just the second of his NBA career, posting 11 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and a steal in 38 minutes of action.

Green, who joined the Pistons on a one-year, partially guaranteed contract over the summer after spending last season with New Orleans and Cleveland, brought energy and defensive intensity throughout the game.

His performance earned praise from head coach J.B. Bickerstaff, who highlighted Green’s effort and understanding of his role.

“He blocked [two] threes, which is hard to do … Again, it’s top to bottom. These guys care about winning, and they’re willing to do whatever it takes to win,” Bickerstaff said.

“[Green] knows who he is and understands how he impacts winning.”
