Mitchell Robinson’s playing time has been limited early in the season as the New York Knicks continue to manage his workload carefully, with the big man appearing in only four of the team’s first nine games.
Despite those restrictions, Robinson has made a major impact in the minutes he’s been given.
As reported by Stefan Bondy of The New York Post, Robinson turned in an outstanding stretch of performances last week, pulling down nine offensive rebounds in just 16 minutes against Minnesota on Wednesday.
He followed that effort with another dominant showing versus Brooklyn on Sunday, finishing the game with a remarkable plus-minus rating of +40 in under 17 minutes of action – one of the most eye-catching stats of the Knicks’ young season.
Head coach Mike Brown praised Robinson’s efficiency and ability to change the game even in short bursts.
“I don’t really fall into the plus-minus stuff a ton, but it’s another amazing stat,” Brown said.
“He keeps throwing up these stats that are amazing. … To impact the game that way – again, not a huge believer in it – but to see a number like that in the short amount of time he was playing was just amazing.”
Robinson has played 7 seasons for the Knicks. He has averaged 7.8 rebounds and 7.8 points in 337 regular-season games.
