Former Mavericks majority owner and current minority shareholder Mark Cuban was directly involved in a meeting on Monday with new team owner Louis Dumont and team president Rick Welts prior to the dismissal of general manager Nico Harrison, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.

Stein’s report indicates that Cuban remains actively engaged in organizational matters despite selling his controlling stake, continuing to exert some influence within the Mavericks’ front office structure.

ESPN’s Tim MacMahon added that Cuban and Dumont have maintained regular communication in recent months, discussing various aspects of team management and direction.

According to MacMahon, ex-team boss has expressed support for pursuing former Mavericks advisor Dennis Lindsey as a potential replacement for Harrison.

Lindsey, who previously served in front-office roles with Utah and San Antonio, has long been respected for his scouting and roster-building experience.

However, it’s still uncertain how receptive Dumont will be to Cuban’s input on key basketball decisions.

As MacMahon noted, while the two have developed a collaborative working relationship, Dumont’s leadership style and vision for the franchise may ultimately determine how much weight Cuban’s recommendations carry in shaping the Mavericks’ next front-office move.
